Whether you have a newborn baby or a 10-month-old baby, you will definitely want to understand baby’s language. It’s true that mothers have an inherent ability to understand what their baby wants but sometimes it may become difficult to understand why the baby is crying and what is he trying to convey. So, it’s important to know how to understand baby’s language.

For babies ageing between 0 to 4 months, sound is the major means of communication. He begins to learn the sound language and conveys what he wants through a sound. Like for instance if he is in pain he will cry non-stop and if he is happy he will smile or laugh aloud. At this age babies also tend to differentiate between happy, sad and angry voices.

Babies of age group of 5 to 7 months, learn to understand the family’s native language. These also learn to imitate certain sounds. Mothers need to observe what sound these babies make in this age to understand their language. They also utter words like “Mummy” and “Papa” in this age.

Between 8 to 9 months of age, babies learn to crawl and experience new things. This is the right time to teach babies certain language principles like saying yes or no. You can teach the baby to nod the head up for saying yes and down for saying no.
