Breast feeding can also influence the IQ of a child that was least imagined and thought by one. However, the recent researches and results are pointing towards something like that only. According to a few researchers who carried out the study at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) of the University of Essex and at the University of Oxford, the children fed on schedule and on demand show different levels of intelligence and for proving it a number of children aging between 5 to 14 years were tested. It has been found that any child between these ages who was breast fed or bottle fed on demand as a baby scores higher than a child who was fed on schedule as a baby.

For testing the intelligence of the children, some school based IQ and SAT tests were conducted and the demand fed children are seen scoring at least 4 to 5 points more than the schedule fed ones. This report has also been published in the European Journal of Public Health. This is one of those long term investigations that demanded observation of the behavior of the children from their infancy to childhood and also is the first of its kind as a large scale study.

Dr Maria Iacovou, who led this research from ISER said that although quite reasons and proves have been found on this difference between the children basing on their breast feeding habit, still it can also not be said that there is a definite connection between feeding patterns and IQ. She also put stress on the need for more researches.

Planning for a baby is a mutual decision for both the partners, but what if you wish to have a baby and your man doesn’t? Well, this can result into a very difficult situation between two partners in a married life. Read on to learn how to deal with this problem.

First of all, let us talk about the most common reasons for which men often hesitate in planning their family. First reason for their denial is that don’t want to hamper their sexual life that gets somewhat disturbed when the lady conceives and feels sick. They also feel that they will not be able to handle their pregnant wife’s pregnancy symptoms like vomiting, nausea and fatigue.

Moreover, the tension of increasing burden on their family budget also often makes men uncomfortable in taking a decision to expand their family. They think that the new arrival in their family will bring a lot of expenditure and their whole lifestyle will get disturbed taking care of the baby.

The best way to deal with this problem is to talk to your partner and assure him that it won’t be that difficult as he is assuming. You also need to boost his confidence in bringing up the child in a mutual way. Moreover, you can make him understand that one day you will feel that it’s too late to expand the family if you miss the chance now.

Though, it is not very hard to keep small babies happy, you simply have to provide them the their preferred plaything to keep them busy and happy. And once you know the favorite thing that your baby loves, you will hardly let it go away from the little one, until they are sick of it.

Depending on personality and their own choices, babies might like few things, while not liking few others. But there are certain things that are commonly enjoyed by almost all babies.

The foremost of all such things is the full on attention to the baby. Babies love to bond with their parents and guardians and they love as much attention as you can spare. Simple things, like games or showing picture stories etc., might interest a small baby despite the fact that he/she cannot read or understand the same.

Babies also like activity and movement. Babies love it when you move the baby around here and there rather than making him/her sit in a particular place for hours. Things that are visually attractive or have auditory function interests the child most. Buy him/her a toy that either illuminates or have sound in it.

So, to keep a baby stay happy doesn’t take much. Their needs are simple and they simply want your love and attention.

Small babies tend to cry a lot and since they can’t express their feelings in words, so we always try to soothe them by some or the other tactic. Whenever your baby cries you think that hunger is the cause of his crying and that is why you feed him with a bottle of milk to pacify his hunger. If the baby is little more than a year old and don’t take bottle feeding, we tend to give them something to eat as and when they whine or cry. Interestingly even the babies stops crying when given something to eat, which makes it more obvious for us that this trick works.

But, if we make it a habit to feed the child everytime they whine, this will make the child an emotional eater and they will start eating even without being hungry. Once the baby gets into this habit, he will take to overeating. The baby will learn to feel that food pacifies him.

That is why children should be taught to have healthy eating habit since early childhood and to have a healthy relation with the food. It is important to enjoy food but one should also know the limit to eat for a healthy body. In addition, children should also be taught early to have a healthy way to deal with their emotions.

Teaching the child the ways to have a healthy relationship with food is very important to keep away from an unhealthy lifestyle and bad habits.

Maternity time is one of the happiest times in women life so she would like to look fabulous and feel comfortable. That is why maternity clothes should be stylish and comfy. Here comes a list of tips that will help you to choose the right clothes for pregnancy:

choose natural fabrics, for example: wool, silk, cotton and linen. They will make you feel more comfortable, such things “breathe”, allowing air to circulate;

buy maternity clothes in your pre-pregnancy size or a few sizes larger. Believe me you will need some extra room;

buy basic items in stretch fabrics, because your body changes very quickly;

look for adjustable waistbands. You’ll be able to wear such clothes even during your third trimester;

plan your wardrobe and don’t buy too many things – anyway after giving birth to your baby – your body will change;

try to choose easily combined things;

choose comfortable flats and shoes without any heels;

make sure you have the right bra that will give the whole needed support for your new bust.

Be very attentive while choosing baby clothes. Moms of newborn children want to buy everything and they don’t understand that children grow very quick and most likely they won’t need all these things.

Be happy and beautiful!

We all associate snoring with elderly people but surprisingly the phenomenon has also become quite common among kids. Cold, allergy seasons, clogged sinuses and overtiredness are some of the reasons that lead to occasional snoring in children. Parents need not get worried about the snoring of their kids unless it becomes regular because regular snoring in children is indicative of obstructive sleep apnea.

Such disorder is mostly seen in kids between the ages of 3 and 5 years. However, there have been some reports that suggest that it can also occur in babies who are less than a year old. The inflated tonsils and adenoids obstruct the breathing of the kids while they sleep.

Apart from loud snoring, restless sleep and regular breathing through the mouth are some of the signs that show that your child might be suffering from disruptive sleep apnea. Children with such a disorder find it very hard to get a good night’s sleep and hence feel tired and irritable throughout the day. It is important for you to get in touch with a pediatrician if you feel your kid has this sleep disorder.

Your child then has to go through a sleep study done in a children’s hospital or by an ENT specialist. If the problem does exist a surgery follows, which would take care of the adenoids and big tonsils. The best part is that the surgical procedure has a very high percentage of success. There are also some other procedures besides the surgery but they have longer recovery period.

Be it a kick or an arm swing or a crawl, these are only exercises that form the little steps in the journey of your baby to adulthood. Every parent naturally desires that their baby makes a smooth transition in this process. So, it is very important for them to know about the dos and don’ts of different exercises that they intend to introduce to their kids.

There has been a noticeable increase in the number of classes and facilities that have sprung up which are dedicated to children’s exercise. They aim exercise classes for newborns and also for infants below 12 months in order to make them learn new skills and develop their upper body strength. These classes also strengthen the bond between the parent and the child. Apart from this, swimming and development play offered by these classes also attract the parents to enroll their child in them.

According to the general pediatric opinion though, babies get adequate exercise by just doing what they actually do and hence do not require a special fitness program. So, parents can try different games and activities to promote the motor skill confidence and foster healthy development of their baby.

They can try to lay their child on the floor on a blanket with few toys and if the baby is learning to roll over, parents can motivate them to keep trying by keeping his favorite toy just out of his reach. Children can also be taken to new surroundings and environment and should be allowed to explore things around them on their own. These activities may contribute significantly towards your child gaining competence at an early age and taking interest in physical activities later on in their lives.

As parents, it is common to see your teenager struggling with acne or getting one or two yourself. But it becomes quite a concern when you see your newborn with these unwanted bumps. Baby acne generally develops around the cheeks, chin and forehead of the newborns and although being common, it is just a temporary situation. There is no specific way of preventing baby acne. Sometimes the best way to prevent it is none at all.

Baby acne is often seen in newborns who are in their third or fourth week. Babies usually develop red bumps on their cheeks, chin and forehead which look really worse when your baby is crying. The hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy are mainly responsible for the baby acne. It is fairly common in boys but should not be taken as a sign of hormonal problem. Baby acne generally lasts for a period of two- three weeks and goes away on its own.

Parents can always help in reducing the baby acne by making sure that they keep their baby’s face clean. Washing your baby’s faces two or three times a day with warm water surely helps. Babies have a very sensitive skin so parents should not pinch or scrub the acne as it may result in irritation or further infection. The face of the baby should be dried gently by simply patting it dry. If you find that your baby’s acne is refusing to go, you can consult a doctor and apply the treatment that he recommends and as already mentioned wash and keep your baby’s face clean and hope that the bumps go away soon.
