Absence due to illness is more in Mothers than fathers

12631 The amount of sickness absence in mothers is higher as compared to fathers. A recent study shows that the sickness absence in mothers remains high up to at least first 15 years of the birth of their child.

Though, before having babies, the ratio of absenteeism from work due to illness in both men and women remains almost same. However, the birth of the first child causes the increase in the number of days of absence from work for mothers. The study says the gap becomes almost twice in case of mothers than that of fathers.
