Weaning, the time when a baby shifts from feeding on breast milk to other sources of nourishment is often the biggest worry for many mothers. For many reasons, mothers decide to wean their baby early, so that they can return to their job. However, if weaning is not done at the right time, it may end up making your baby unhealthy and sick. So, it is important that you know the right time of weaning your baby.

Remember, that weaning is a gradual process and needs your patience as a mother. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, babies should be given breast milk only till first 6 months. After that, mothers should start feeding them with a mix of solid foods and some amount of breast milk until they are 1 year old.

Many baby care specialists feel that babyʼs first birthday is the right time to start weaning. This is because, the baby is big enough to be able to take solid food and digest it. In cases, when the mother has no option but to start weaning their baby before 1 year, switching to a baby formula is an ideal solution. However, make sure to give the baby a proper quantity of the baby formula.
