It’s common that parents of newly borns often complain of lack of sleep but this problem continues for sometime, as the babies have their own different biological clock and parents need to match themselves to it. Some babies have a tendency to keep their parents awake with them at night. It takes time to set the baby’s sleeping pattern during day and night.

The first mistake that parents do for making their baby sleep is rocking them, this way the baby get habitual and expect rocking before sleeping. So, in order to cultivate a sleeping habit in babies independently, make sure not to let your baby sleep in your arms. Instead, teach the baby to sleep on bed. However, make sure that the baby is not deprived of the motherly touch.

Set a daily sleeping routine for your baby and teach the baby to sleep on that particular time every day and every night. Soon, the baby will learn and adapt himself to sleep on his own on that time. This tip can be followed when the baby is around 6 months old. Try to make the baby sleep on his back to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Also, make sure to put aside baby’s soft toys, blankets and other things when the baby sleeps. This way you won’t have to worry for the safety of your baby while he sleeps on his own.
