Especially, if the child needs too much wooing to be sent to bed.

However, you cannot exactly state the reason for such an indifferent behavior. Moreover, every child has its own particular reason for not going to bed or for not liking to go at the time their parents wants them to.

So to be able to avoid such problems and to make life easy, parents must try to figure out the problem that causes the challenge of getting your child into bed.

For this, you will have to give enough time to the child while he/she is going off to sleep. Try using new ideas of getting them off to sleep and if possible start this activity over the weekend so that you can have enough time in hand.

You can try to set a routine and follow it as far as possible. Also try to do them in order. Give some time to the child for relaxing before sending to finish homework. Help the child in his studies and spend time with him while he plays or watch TV.

Make sure that dinner is served at the same time everyday followed by going off to bed. Read them a story before they go to bed and ensure that the children are genuinely fast asleep before you go to sleep. Whatever be the situation, try to keep your calm.

Then, the only solution you can try is to form bedtime routines for your kids to develop their sleeping habits. Researches have proved that following a consistent bedtime routine helps improving infants’ and toddlers’ sleep patterns.

Mothers who try to carry out a regular bedtime routine are always seen happy after a few days when they teach their babies to sleep on a particular time. On the other hand, mothers who don’t take pains to form these bedtime routines often take pains of sleepless nights for a longer time.

One of the best ways to form bedtime routines for babies is to form a daily sleep dairy for one week to notice how long your child sleeps and how long does he or she takes to fall asleep. Watching these sleeping behaviors, mothers can tend it the way they want to have comfortable nights with their babies.

Children at different stages of life should get proper sleep in order to avoid health and mental problems. Insufficiency in sleep can lead to delay in motor response, irritability, poorer memory and concentration and other health problems, which can harm your child’s life considerably.

Requirement of sleep in different age is as below:

3-year olds- 12 hours (including a nap)

10 year olds 10 hours

Teenagers should have about 9 hours of sleep each night

Usually, it often happened that your child throws tantrums before going to bed. For example: crawls into bed with you during the night, repeatedly gets out of bed before falling asleep, or takes a long time to fall asleep etc.

There are few guidelines following that can make you more comfortable in controlling your child during bedtime.

Pre-bedtime routine

Keep the bedroom free of electronic devices like TV, Phone, and Video games etc.

Make the bedding arrangement simple and subtle. Your child’s favorite blanket, pillow and side pillow.

Make your child’s game inaccessible to him/her.

Try to maintain bedroom’s environment cool and dark.

Try to make a short pre-bedtime routine for your child like wearing night dress, brushing teeth, washing hand and legs, taking a glass of milk and praying to god before going to bed.

Bedtime routine

Try to take your child to his/her bed even if he/ she is awake.

Tell your child good night with a kiss on her/his forehead and puts off the light.

Then remove yourself from his/her room

After bedtime routine

Don’t stay back unnecessarily at your child’s room even if he/she is crying, pleading, coaxing.

If your child is not behaving normally, then you can go and check his/her problem.
