Now, coming to the question of getting pregnant by determining ovulation, remember that you can be pregnant only if you have sexual intercourse during the period between one or two days before ovulation to about 24 hours afterwards. Reason being that the sperm cells can live up to three days by an egg survives up to one day only unless fertilization occurs.

You can detect ovulation by figuring out when is your next period due to begin and then count back 12 to 16 days which will be the period of your ovulation. You can also determine your ovulation by observing your body symptoms like change in cervical mucus or a rise in body temperature after ovulation by 0.4 to 1.0 degrees. Another way to determine ovulation is feeling some lower abdominal discomfort.
