<p>It is very important to take food that is rich in protein during pregnancy. Protein rich food like fish, peanut, tofu, pulses, egg whites, lean meat and poultry can be consumed during pregnancy. Carbohydrates also need to be included in adequate amount in a pregnant woman’s diet in the form of fruits, vegetables, breads, cereals and rice.</p>

<p>Calcium in the form of yogurt, cheese, milk, sardines, spinach and milk products should be consumed in rich quantity during pregnancy. A pregnant lady should also consume iron rich diet comprising of lean meat, beetroots and drumsticks. Vitamin A, C, B6, B12 and D from fish, carrots, fruit juices and citrus fruits is also very essential for a pregnant woman’s diet.
<p>A healthy pregnant lady diet must also comprise of folic acid rich food items like peas, beans, nuts, green leafy vegetables and dark yellow fruits. Pregnant women should on the other hand avoid taking raw eggs, unpasteurized milk, cheese, undercooked meat and fish with rich mercury content. </p>
