bedtime

Children at different stages of life should get proper sleep in order to avoid health and mental problems. Insufficiency in sleep can lead to delay in motor response, irritability, poorer memory and concentration and other health problems, which can harm your child’s life considerably.

Requirement of sleep in different age is as below:

3-year olds- 12 hours (including a nap)

10 year olds 10 hours

Teenagers should have about 9 hours of sleep each night

Usually, it often happened that your child throws tantrums before going to bed. For example: crawls into bed with you during the night, repeatedly gets out of bed before falling asleep, or takes a long time to fall asleep etc.

There are few guidelines following that can make you more comfortable in controlling your child during bedtime.

Pre-bedtime routine

  • Keep the bedroom free of electronic devices like TV, Phone, and Video games etc.
  • Make the bedding arrangement simple and subtle. Your child’s favorite blanket, pillow and side pillow.
  • Make your child’s game inaccessible to him/her.
  • Try to maintain bedroom’s environment cool and dark.
  • Try to make a short pre-bedtime routine for your child like wearing night dress, brushing teeth, washing hand and legs, taking a glass of milk and praying to god before going to bed.
