Many parents who consider a car seat to be a very good place for a new born to take a quick nap should think again. A recent study has revealed that this could have adverse effect on a kid’s health as it could reduce the oxygen levels by almost 20 percent of all newborns.

Car seats are primarily safety gears and you cannot take your kid home from a hospital without one. The problem with them is that the kid needs to be placed upright and this could lead to breathing problems while the baby is sleeping. The reason for this is that these seats compress the chest resulting in decrease of the size of the airway which is a major reason for lower levels of oxygen in blood.

It is natural for parents to wish that the infant finds some sleep, but they should ensure that they do not use a car bed for the kid to sleep in. It has been found that the early days of a kid is the time when parents are most desperate to find a perfect place for their kid to sleep.

This study was conducted on 200 healthy infants by putting them in cribs and in car seats. It was found that the kids sleeping in the car seats had considerably low levels of oxygen. Consequently, it has been established that sleeping in a car seat could be very harmful for a kid. However, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use a car bed while traveling. Just ensure you don’t let your kid sleep in it.

Then, the only solution you can try is to form bedtime routines for your kids to develop their sleeping habits. Researches have proved that following a consistent bedtime routine helps improving infants’ and toddlers’ sleep patterns.

Mothers who try to carry out a regular bedtime routine are always seen happy after a few days when they teach their babies to sleep on a particular time. On the other hand, mothers who don’t take pains to form these bedtime routines often take pains of sleepless nights for a longer time.

One of the best ways to form bedtime routines for babies is to form a daily sleep dairy for one week to notice how long your child sleeps and how long does he or she takes to fall asleep. Watching these sleeping behaviors, mothers can tend it the way they want to have comfortable nights with their babies.
