Teenage girls are highly influenced by networking sites like Facebook, twitter etc. As per a new study, Facebook influences girls in their teens in the way they network with others and also the way they communicate. In most cases, girls are seen distorting their profiles by changing names and other details when they’re online.

The study says that as many as 75% of teenage girls are of the view that they use the social networking sites to appear trendy, up market and cool. Though, their real self may not be like the one that appears in the website profiles. Most girls with low self-esteem or lower confidence level try to portray a smart, funny, outgoing, and sociable image for them. This at times can even cause damage to their personality. Because when confronted with the real world, their image and personality lack the confidence to match with the girls with high self esteem, which can impact their identity.

Again, the study says, a large number of teenage girls join social networking sites because it brings them closer to their friends and also increases their friend list, while some want to work on social causes via social networking. There are some girls who are skeptical that their current online updates and posts might bring trouble them later in life, whereas few of them even have had bad experiences from these networking sites, like being subject to gossips.

The Most interesting revelation of the study is that almost 90% of teenage girls accepted that they are ready to leave their Facebook friends for their real life best friends

Teen pregnancy is a growing menace for parents these days as the number of cases have been on rise. It is no doubt an area of both concern and angst for parents. They are definitely correct in being upset over this, but they also need to understand that it is not just the girl who is responsible. So, when faced with such a situation parents need to help their child instead of accusing them and getting angry with them. However, when you try to help your child, you need to ensure that the choices that you make are well informed. Also the boy should also be made a part of this responsibility as he is equally at fault too.

Some of the dos and don’ts of such a scenario are mentioned below.

Parents should make sure that they do not harass the girl, but rather speak with her calmly. Also involve the boy and his family in the damage control action.

The teenage father doesn’t have a right to prevent abortion and but has right to paternity test

The girl should be presented with viable options and she has the right to decide on what to do

Apart from these there are several other things to be taken into consideration. Abortion is an option, but there are alternatives too. There is ample support for such children in case she wants to go ahead with the baby. But the problem with teen mothers is that they themselves aren’t very responsible and when entrusted with the responsibility of a new born it could be too much for them. On the other hand, abortion can have a lifelong regret and sense of guilt. So, parents need to be very cautious while advising the child on action to be taken.

Then, worry no more, we present you with some tips for parenting during the teen years. Just try to follow these tips remembering that teenage is a very sensitive age when your child matures from childhood to adulthood.

The best way to learn how to tackle your teen kids, is to read books or surf net about teenagers. Learn how to be their friends by talking to them and giving them valuable suggestions and advises on the teen problems like acne, parties and fashion. Try to talk to your child as early as possible by answering their curious questions about adulthood.

Take it easy when you kids talk about sex and give more attention to their personal appearance. Remember girls mature earlier than boys in teenage. However, one thing common to both girls and boys is the fantasy to be the center of attraction. So, try to put yourself in your child’s position and think about your teen years while dealing with them.

Rest assure, parenting teens will be easy if you behave as their friends and appreciate them with open suggestions instead of strict rules.
